Te reo and tikaka Māori for ceremonial use (Mar)

Te reo and tikaka Māori for ceremonial use (level 4, 8 credits)
is a course within the CERTIFICATE IN MATA A ĀO MĀORI (LEVEL 4)

Incorporating US 16164 (Describe key concepts associated with hui):
This course aims to provide participants with a good understanding of Te Reo me ōna tikaka as it relates to ceremonies. Participants will gain a clear understanding of tikaka and kawa. While use and practice of Kai Tahu reo and tikaka will be used there will be discussion of the regional and dialectal differences. Learning outcomes include the use of basic reo and kawa during various ceremonial occasions, explaining concepts of Te Ao Māori and how they apply to ceremonies, and mihi to welcome guests.

Date: Mihiwhakatau 6th March 4.00pm-6.00pm (NB change of start date)
Venue: Otago Polytechnic Staff Room - F Block
Workshops (during Semester One): Thursdays from 13th March, 4.00pm-5.00 pm
Venue: G104 on 13th then G205 for all other workshops.
Online tutorials: Mondays from 10th March, 6.00pm-7.00pm;
Or
Wednesdays from 12th March, 4.30pm-5.30 pm
