This course is aimed at people who wish to learn basic Photoshop skills. There is no photographic content; other that using photos within the programmes. Pictures/photos for manipulation will be supplied during the course and the opportunity of working with your own images is also included. This two-day workshop is suitable for people who use competency based assessment tools, whether in a work setting or a training room. It will suit both tutors and those wishing to become registered workplace assessors. There are two follow-on assessment tasks to be carried out to show skill in preparing for assessment, carrying it out and attending to the follow-up administration. Te Reo and Tikaka Maori for Ceremonial Use (Level 4)

This course is part of the Certificate in Mata a ao Maori and is aimed at providing participants with a good understanding of Te Reo me ona tikaka as it relates to ceremonies. Participants will gain a clear understanding of tikaka and kawa. While use and practice of Kāi Tahu and tikaka will be used there will be discussion of the regional and dialectal differences.

There will be one face-to-face session per week (commencing Thursday 24th July):

The Heywire8 Think Tank (Aug)

Otago Polytechnic in collaboration with the Commonwealth of Learning are hosting an open think tank for New Zealand educational practitioners, policy makers and decision makers to explore opportunities and pathways for building a national OER initiative.

Following the WikiEducator traditions of thought leadership established with the Tectonic Shift Think Tank, we hope that our experiences with the Heywire8 Think Tank will create a model for inspiring and informing other countries in building national OER collaborations. More importantly, we hope that this think tank will be an important catalyst to establish a thriving New Zealand community of OER content collaborators building on the solid foundations established by the national eLearning community.

The Theory and Practice of Long Fiction Writing - August/September/October 2008

This 40 hour course which is taught by Paddy Richardson, along with guest writers such as Maxine Alterio, Jackie Ballantyne, Dianne Pettis, Bill O'Brien and Vanda Symon, introduces participants to the principles and practice of long fiction writing. Course content is delivered using a range of interactive teaching and learning methods which explore various technical and creative aspects of novel writing.

Te reo and tikaka Māori for ceremonial use (level 4, 8 credits)
is a course within the CERTIFICATE IN MATA A ĀO MĀORI (LEVEL 4)

Incorporating US 16164 (Describe key concepts associated with hui):
This course aims to provide participants with a good understanding of Te Reo me ōna tikaka as it relates to ceremonies. Participants will gain a clear understanding of tikaka and kawa. While use and practice of Kai Tahu reo and tikaka will be used there will be discussion of the regional and dialectal differences. Learning outcomes include the use of basic reo and kawa during various ceremonial occasions, explaining concepts of Te Ao Māori and how they apply to ceremonies, and mihi to welcome guests.
